These reasons include:
- The need to lessen the pain, causing strain on the back and/or neck
- Reduce discomfort during physical exercise and improve mobility
- A more balanced and proportioned look
- Improved self-image as a large bosom can attract unwanted attention
- To make it easier to find proper fitting clothes
Preparing For The Procedure
Mammaplasty can take between 2 – 5 hours, depending on the boob or implant size and ideal outcome in terms of balance and proportion. There are a few methods that your surgeon may use to achieve your desired result. They may include:
- Liposuction
- Simplified vertical breast reduction
- Inverted-T
- Short-scar technique or lollipop incision
This procedure is usually done under general anesthesia. However, smaller procedures can be done with local anesthesia. During surgery your implant may be removed or replaced with a smaller implant, or, in the case of the natural breast, fat will be removed and underlying breast tissue is reduced, lifted and shaped.
You will be stitched up when the surgeon is happy with the results and you may be required to wear a surgical bra during your recovery period.
