A Family Man First
Some may feel that graduating from medical school, becoming a surgeon and a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon (720/69), or even running a successful plastic surgery office would be Dr. Svehlak’s greatest achievement. And yes, while these are great achievements and milestones, none compares to that of meeting his wife, Wendy, and the gift of their beautiful daughter, Genevieve!
An established, and in-demand plastic surgeon in LA, Dr. Steven Svehlak grew up in the small quiet town of Oxford, Connecticut. His greatest achievement is that of creating a beautiful and joyous life with his family. His family is his life!
The Future of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery with Dr. Steven Svehlak
“The field of cosmetic plastic surgery has been progressing rapidly over the last several years with introductions to new therapies such as new neurotoxins, fillers, and new non-invasive body and facial treatments. The future of this field will always advance based on the demands of our patients. They demand more non-invasive treatments, with less downtime and more natural, long-lasting results.
People lead busy lives and can’t afford the recovery and downtime associated with traditional surgery. I believe new therapies, such as Nano-fat and stem cell technologies, will become more common as part of our armamentarium to offer our patients.
Although still controversial, the regenerative potential of these treatments are being proven in many clinical studies throughout the world, not only for cosmetic and plastic reconstruction but also to treat many diseases including osteoarthritis, blindness, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases.
This is an exciting new era we are entering.
Of course, there will always be a need for surgery to treat certain cosmetic and reconstructive problems. These include breast reconstruction after mastectomy, facelifts for the aging face (but this can be postponed by treatments with non-invasive and less invasive therapies), breast lifts and reductions, tummy tucks, and reconstruction for trauma.”
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon | Dr. Steven Svehlak, MD FACS’ Philosophy
The relationship you build with your plastic surgeon, Dr. Svehlak, will begin with your consultation. He considers the following four factors most important during the first appointment:
- Creating a comfortable non-pressurized atmosphere for a trusting doctor-patient relationship. This allows for the patient to openly communicate their concerns and needs to the plastic surgeon.
- Engaging in a thorough discussion with each patient and thoughtful consideration of the desired results. The consultation is never “rushed,” and every question is extremely important.
- Every effort is made to give each patient an accurate, realistic idea of what they can expect after surgery. More is not necessarily better. The end result should give the patient the desired effect with a very natural look that is not “overdone.” It should produce minimal discomfort and pain with minimal bruising and swelling, allow for quick recovery, and leave minimal scars.
- Adherence to the highest standards of safety while striving to avoid any complications. Many of Dr. Svehlak’s patients have fast-paced careers, and others are constantly in the public eye. The common factor between all his patients is that they seek confidentiality and the ability to return to their lives immediately. Because of this, Dr. Svehlak and his team at their Beverly Hills and Los Angeles practices recognize the balance between surgery and real life.
