Getting a Brazilian butt lift? This is an excellent cosmetic procedure to improve your physical appearance. But there are a few dos and don’ts to keep in mind if you want to get the very best results.

Let’s start with the DON’Ts!

1. Don’t sit

Research shows that the average American sits down for 10-13 hours daily! That’s another conversation to be had about health; for now, you will need to avoid sitting down for at least three weeks after doing a Brazilian Butt Lift in Hollywood. The fat cells injected in your bottom are at an extremely delicate stage for those first few weeks. Sitting down puts undue pressure on them, which could leave you with unsightly results such as indentations in your rear end. With the exception of using the toilet, avoid sitting down to:

– Have a meal
– Watch television
– Have a bath
– Drive (make sure you can stay home for a few weeks after doing the procedure).
– Get on or off your bed

2. Speaking of bed, DON’T sleep on your back

Avoid sleeping on your back for the same reasons given for sitting. It can be difficult to remember to not roll onto your back unintentionally while sleeping, especially if you are used to sleeping in that position. As a precaution, try wearing a knapsack to bed or place a tennis ball inside the back of a stretchy, snug-fitting shirt.

3. Don’t do strenuous exercise

Squats and stretches are usually good for your buttocks, but these activities can exert stress on the transplanted fat cells and cause them to shift out of place or die. So, avoid these and other strenuous exercises for about a month after doing a Brazilian butt lift.

4. Don’t smoke

Smoking cigarettes releases nicotine in your body, which drastically reduces blood circulation. This results in the injected fatty tisue being starved of necessary oxygen and nutrients, which will also lead to unwanted results in appearance. It is recommended to quit smoking one month before the procedure and at least for another month after.

5. Don’t use ice for pain

Brazilian butt lift surgery is likely to leave you with discomfort, including swelling and numbness. Using ice, while soothing, may cause your skin to become too cold, thereby reducing circulation to the transplanted fat cells (again, not good). Find out from your plastic surgeon if you can use cold packs for short periods of time, or another suitable method.

The Do’s!

1. Do take gentle walks

While strenuous exercise is a no-no, a moderate walk, twice daily, is good for increasing blood circulation for the first few weeks after a butt lift. Light walking also reduces pain and swelling and may speed up recovery time. Over time, slowly increase the briskness of your walk and the distance.

2. Do wear a compression garment

A stretchy compression garment for your waist and hips is recommended to be worn for up to eight weeks, post-surgery. This helps to boost recovery and allows post-operation sculpting of your posterior as the injected fat cells settle in. If your plastic surgeon does not provide one, ask him or her to recommend a suitable compression garment.

3. Do exercise patience

Getting the best results from a Brazilian butt lift depends on your actions for the first 3-4 weeks after the procedure. That’s the amount of time it takes for the newly-injected fat cells to consolidate and give you the desired look you are after. It is important to be aware of the dos and don’ts, as well as being patient, during the healing process.
